Grew up on a ranch in Crane, Texas, and earned bachelor's (1986) and master's (1988) degrees in sociology at Baylor University. He moved to Weatherford in 1999 as director of IT at Weatherford College, serving there until 2021; the Weatherford Democrat describes him as a data engineer for the University of North Texas.
