The question, as printed on the ballot

Shall Pike County School Corporation increase property taxes paid to the school corporation for no more than eight (8) years for the purpose of funding and maintaining daily educational operations, including maintaining operations at existing school buildings, retaining teachers and staff, supporting essential safety initiatives, and providing academic and CTE programs and opportunities to meet the learning needs of all students in response to reductions in property tax revenue, by imposing a property tax rate that does not exceed $0.25 and results in a maximum annual amount that does not exceed $2,200,000? If this operating referendum public question is approved by the voters, for a median residence of $150,000, the property's annual property tax bill would increase by $149 per year.

A “Yes” vote means

A yes vote lets Pike County School Corporation add a property tax of up to $0.25 per $100 of assessed value, capped at $2.2 million a year, for 2027 through 2034 to fund daily operations.

A “No” vote means

A no vote rejects the additional property tax, and Pike County School Corporation would not impose this referendum levy for its operations.

Official plain English statement

Pike County School Corporation asks voters to approve an extra property tax of up to 25 cents per $100 of assessed value, raising at most $2.2 million a year from 2027 through 2034 for daily operations; its spending plan puts $1.5 million a year toward retaining teachers and staff, $400,000 toward academic and career-technical programs, $200,000 toward building operations and $100,000 toward safety. The county auditor certified that the tax bill on a median $150,000 home would rise by $149 a year.

On the ballot as "TAX LEVY RESOLUTION" (Local Public Question). The school board adopted the referendum resolution June 9, 2026, and the Department of Local Government Finance approved the wording in June 2026. The resolution says the corporation does not plan to distribute referendum revenue to a charter school.
