The question, as printed on the ballot
For the purpose of providing for public safety within Huron County, including law enforcement services and equipment, jail operations, courthouse security, emergency medical services, and other public safety functions within the County, shall the constitutional limitation on general ad valorem taxes which may be assessed in any one year upon all property within Huron County, Michigan, be increased by up to 0.4000 mills ($0.4000 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) for a period of ten (10) years, from 2026 through 2035, inclusive?If approved and levied in full, this millage will raise an estimated $1,220,546 for public safety purposes within the County in the first calendar year of the levy. In accordance with State law, a portion of the millage may also be captured by the DDA/TIFA of the City of Bad Axe and Village of Port Austin, and the DDA of the City of Caseville and the Villages of Elkton and Sebewaing.
A “Yes” vote means
A yes vote authorizes a new county tax of up to 0.4 mill for 2026–2035 for law enforcement, the jail, courthouse security, EMS and other public safety.
A “No” vote means
A no vote rejects the new millage.
