The question, as printed on the ballot

Shall Section 4.7 of the East Lansing City Charter be amended to align with state laws regarding public meetings and records, to remove language requiring a meeting that is scheduled on a holiday to be moved to the next secular day, to permit a designee of the City Clerk to sign City Council minutes, to permit a designee of the City Police Chief to serve as sergeant-at-arms, and to require minutes and other records of all regular and special meetings of the City Council to be posted on the City’s website?

A “Yes” vote means

A yes vote amends the charter to align council meeting rules with state law, drop the holiday rescheduling rule, allow designees to sign minutes and act as sergeant-at-arms, and post records online.

A “No” vote means

A no vote keeps Section 4.7 of the charter as it is.
