The question, as printed on the ballot
Chapter III, Section 1 of the Village Charter Charter currently provides that the president, six trustees, one clerk, one treasurer and one assessor are elected officers. The proposed amendment would remove the Clerk and Treasurer from the list of elected officers so that those positions may instead be appointed. The transition would occur through attrition as current elected terms expire, and no current elected term would be shortened. This amendment would take effect only if Proposition B is approved. Shall Chapter III, Section 1 of the Village Charter be amended accordingly?
A “Yes” vote means
A yes vote removes the clerk and treasurer from Alpha's elected officers so they can be appointed, as current terms expire; it takes effect only if Proposition B also passes.
A “No” vote means
A no vote keeps the clerk and treasurer as elected offices.
