The question, as printed on the ballot
The Village Charter currently provides that the Clerk and Treasurer are elected offices, all officers must be Village electors, and the Treasurer may serve no more than two consecutive years. This amendment provides for the Clerk and Treasurer to be appointed by the President with Council consent, remove the Treasurer’s term limit, and require only elected officers to be Village electors, allowing non-residents to serve in appointed positions. The change would occur through attrition as elected terms expire. No current term would be shortened. This amendment takes effect only if Proposition A is approved. Shall the Charter be amended accordingly?
A “Yes” vote means
A yes vote has the president appoint the clerk and treasurer with council consent, ends the treasurer term limit and lets non-residents hold appointed posts; needs Proposition A to pass.
A “No” vote means
A no vote keeps the current charter rules.
