The question, as printed on the ballot

The Village Charter currently contains no provision authorizing disincorporation, Under state law, disincorporation is permitted only if the Charter expressly allows it. The proposed amendment would add Chapter XXVIII to authorize disincorporation in accordance with the Home Rule Village Act and other applicable state law. Any future disincorporation would require compliance with statutory procedures and approval by a majority of the electors of the Village voting on the question? Shall the Charter be amended to add Chapter XXVIII authorizing disincorporation as provided by law?

A “Yes” vote means

A yes vote adds a charter chapter allowing the Village of Alpha to disincorporate under state law, which would still need a later vote of village electors.

A “No” vote means

A no vote keeps the charter without a disincorporation provision.
