The question, as printed on the ballot
Shall the structure of the Currituck County Board of Commissioners be altered to six electoral districts, whereby the qualified voters of each district shall nominate candidates and elect members who reside in the district for seats apportioned to that district, and one at-large seat, whereby the qualified voters of the entire county shall nominate candidates and elect members for that seat?
A “Yes” vote means
Six commissioners would be elected from districts by that district's voters only, plus one at-large member elected countywide, starting with the 2028 elections.
A “No” vote means
Keeps the current board: five members who must live in residency districts and two at-large members, all elected countywide.
Called by a Board of Commissioners resolution adopted Jan. 20, 2026. District candidates would have to live in their district.
