Local sales and use tax at the rate of one-quarter percent (0.25%) in addition to all other State and local sales and use taxes.
A “Yes” vote means
Adds a one-quarter percent county sales tax, raising Currituck's rate from 6.75% to 7% on taxable purchases; groceries, gasoline, prescription medicines and vehicles are exempt.
A “No” vote means
No added county sales tax; Currituck's sales tax rate stays at 6.75%.
Requested by the Board of Commissioners, which has designated the revenue for infrastructure and public safety; the county estimates about $2.3 million a year. Currituck voters rejected a quarter-cent sales tax referendum on Nov. 5, 2024.
