The question, as printed on the ballot
To permit the "on-premises" and "off-premises" sale of malt beverages.
A “Yes” vote means
Permits sales of beer and other malt beverages both for drinking where sold (on-premises) and to take away (off-premises) throughout Macon County.
A “No” vote means
Countywide malt beverage sales are not approved; sales stay legal only where a town election or local act already allows them.
Under state law, a countywide vote in favor makes these sales lawful throughout the county; a vote against leaves them lawful only in towns that already allow them through their own election or a local act (G.S. 18B-604).
