The question, as printed on the ballot

The funding would be in addition to the amount needed to operate the District’s educational program and meet the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

A “Yes” vote means

Permanently raises the local school tax levy by $73,118.42 to fund an armed Special Law Enforcement Officer at Oradell Public School.

A “No” vote means

The additional funding is not approved and the district may not raise taxes for this purpose.

Official plain English statement

A “Yes” vote authorizes the Oradell Board of Education to permanently increase the local school tax levy by $73,118.42 to fund one armed Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO) assigned to Oradell Public School. The funding will cover the officer’s salary, required payroll taxes, and the cost of providing a qualified substitute officer whenever the assigned SLEO is unavailable due to illness or other temporary absences. This will help ensure consistent coverage throughout the school year. The Borough of Oradell will cover training and equipment costs for the SLEO and any substitute officer assigned. For a home assessed at the Oradell Borough average, the estimated annual increase in school taxes would be approximately .49% .* A “No” vote means the additional funding would not be approved, and the District would not be authorized to increase taxes for this purpose. *Based on the proposed 2026-2027 school tax levy.
