The question, as printed on the ballot

Shall the Commissioners of the Fire District No. 1 in the Township of Delran, County of Burlington, New Jersey (“Fire District”), be authorized to: (A) Acquire a new foam pumper fire apparatus to replace the Fire District’s current, 24-year-old foam pumper apparatus, at a cost not to exceed $1,500,000; and (B) To raise the necessary funds for the Fire District’s purchase of the new foam pumper fire apparatus through the issuance and sale of a general obligation bond or bonds or through other allowable financing alternatives in an amount up to the purchase price less any available capital appropriations.

A “Yes” vote means

The fire district may spend up to $1,500,000 on a new foam pumper replacing a 24-year-old unit and may finance some or all of it.

A “No” vote means

The fire district may not buy the new foam pumper through capital appropriations or financing.

Official plain English statement

A “Yes” vote will allow the Fire District to expend up to $1,500,000 on a new foam pumper fire apparatus to replace a unit that is 24 years old. A “Yes” vote will also permit the Fire District to finance some or all of the purchase price of the new fire apparatus through available financing options. A “No” vote will not permit the Fire District to purchase the new foam pumper fire apparatus though either capital appropriations or through financing or capital appropriations.
