The question, as printed on the ballot
"Shall Local Law No. 1 of 2026 entitled "Local Law abolishing the Elective Office of the Town Clerk and Establishing the Appointed Office of Town Clerk of the Town of New Berlin" be approved to ensure adequate coverage in the Town Clerk's Office?' The term will be a two-year appointment starting, on January 1, 2028.
A “Yes” vote means
A yes vote approves Local Law No. 1 of 2026: New Berlin's town clerk becomes an appointed post, with two-year appointments starting January 1, 2028.
A “No” vote means
A no vote rejects the local law; the town clerk remains an elected office.
