The question, as printed on the ballot
Shall a Local Law of The Town of Dix, entitled 'A Local Law Changing the Office of the Town of Dix Superintendent of Highways from an Elective Office to an Appointive Office and Setting the Term of Office' be approved, thereby abolishing the elective office of the Town Superintendent of Highways and allowing the Town Board instead to appoint the Highway Superintendent to serve for an indefinite term at the pleasure of the Town Board, commencing on January 1, 2027.
A “Yes” vote means
A yes vote abolishes the elected highway superintendent office; from January 1, 2027 the town board would appoint the superintendent to serve at its pleasure.
A “No” vote means
A no vote keeps the Town of Dix's superintendent of highways an elected office.
Printed as "Proposal Number One, Town of Dix". The same ballot also carries a Dix highway superintendent race for a two-year unexpired term.
