The question, as printed on the ballot

Shall the resolution of the Town of Putnam Board of Trustees, adopted June 11, 2026, authorizing, Pursuant to Article 11-A of the General Municipal law of the State of New York, the establishment of a defined contribution service award program effective January 1, 2027, to be administered by the Town of Putnam for active Volunteer Firefighter members of the Putnam Volunteer Fire Company; Stating that under the program a $1,200 annual service award shall be credited to a participating volunteer's service award program account at the end of each year after 2026 during which the participating volunteer earned a year of service award program service credit and that an additional $1,200 service award shall also be credited to the accounts of eligible participating volunteers for each year up to a maximum of five (5) years of such service credit earned for calendar years prior to 2027 and after calendar year 2021?

A “Yes” vote means

A yes vote approves a town-run service award program crediting qualifying Putnam volunteer firefighters $1,200 a year, plus up to five years of credit for 2022–2026 service.

A “No” vote means

A no vote rejects the resolution establishing the service award program.

The sample ballot heads it "Referendum on the establishment of a service award program for Active Volunteer Firefighter Members of the Putnam Volunteer Fire Company".
