Miami County Park District levy (additional)

An additional tax for the benefit of the Miami County Park District for the purpose of continuing to fund the maintenance and improvement of the nature reserves, preserves, and facilities of the District, such as Charleston Falls Preserve, Garbry Big Woods Reserve and Sanctuary, Hobart Urban Nature Preserve, Stillwater Prairie Reserve, Goode Prairie, Greenville Creek Scenic River and Lost Creek Reserve; emphasizing the conservation of lands and natural resources; public outdoor passive leisure facilities and programs; increased visitor security and comfort; urban and suburban partnerships; educational and entertainment programs for all generations, such as Hug The Earth Festival, Summer Eco-splorers, Fall FarmFest, the Holiday Lights Event at Lost Creek Reserve, and various school and public education programs; historic preservation of rural lifestyles and traditions; wildlife protection and observation; recognition and protection of the area river corridors, wetlands and watersheds; and the maintenance of District facilities, being operations presently funded by the district's existing 1.5 mill levy, which the Board of Park Commissioners has by resolution committed shall not be collected if this tax is approved, that the county auditor estimates will collect $5,966,102 annually, at a rate not exceeding 1.4 mills for each $1 of taxable value, which amounts to $49 for each $100,000 of the county auditor's market value, for 10 years, commencing in 2026, first due in calendar year 2027.
