CHARTER AMENDMENT SUBMITTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KNOXVILLE PERTAINING TO THE ELECTION OF CITY COUNCIL: SHALL ARTICLE VII, SECTIONS 707(B) and 707(C) OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF KNOXVILLE BE AMENDED TO PROVIDE THAT IF A CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF CITY COUNCIL RECEIVES A MAJORITY OF ALL VOTES CAST IN THE PRIMARY FOR THE DESIGNATED SEAT THE CANDIDATE SHALL BE DECLARED ELECTED WITHOUT THE NECESSITY OF A RUNOFF AND A CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION SHALL BE ISSUED TO SUCH CANDIDATE, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN ORDINANCE No. O-62-2026 OF THE CITY OF KNOXVILLE AS DULY PUBLISHED?
A “Yes” vote means
A vote for the amendment means a City Council candidate who wins a majority of all votes cast in the primary for a seat is declared elected without a runoff.
A “No” vote means
A vote against leaves Sections 707(B) and 707(C) of the Knoxville City Charter unchanged.
Printed on the ballot: “The Chief Financial Officer's cost estimate of the proposed charter amendment is $0.” Voters choose “For the Amendment” or “Against the Amendment”.
