The question, as printed on the ballot
Shall this municipality repeal the adoption of home rule?
A “Yes” vote means
A YES vote repeals home rule: from January 4, 2027, Mt. Juliet would run under the state's general-law city manager-commission charter, keeping the charter changes voters approved in 2010 and 2012.
A “No” vote means
A NO vote keeps Mt. Juliet a home rule city under its current Home Rule Charter, which voters adopted in November 2006.
Placed on the ballot by the Board of Commissioners (Ordinance 2026-62, passed August 10, 2026). The ordinance says that under home rule the city cannot ask the General Assembly for private acts, and that repeal would let the legislature pass private acts for the city.
