The question, as printed on the ballot
Shall Article V, Section 3 of the City Charter of the City of Brownsville be amended to require that a City Commissioner automatically forfeits their office if he or she lacks at any time during the term of office any qualification for holding the office prescribed by the Charter or by law; fails to meet the residency requirements for election to office; is convicted of a felony; fails to attend three consecutive regular Commission meetings without being excused by the Commission; violates the prohibited personal financial interest provision set forth in Article V, Section 4, or any other provisions of this Charter that prescribe forfeiture; or fails to attend six consecutive or non-consecutive regular Commission meetings in any twelve-month period with or without being excused by the City Commission?
A “Yes” vote means
A yes vote makes a commissioner automatically forfeit office for listed reasons, including a felony conviction, residency or qualification lapses, and missed meetings.
A “No” vote means
A no vote leaves Article V, Section 3 of the Brownsville charter unchanged.
