THIS IS A TAX INCREASE. Ratifying the ad valorem tax rate of $1.0446 per $100 valuation in Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District for the current year, a rate that will result in an increase of 0 percent in maintenance and operations tax revenue for the District for the current year as compared to the preceding year, which is an additional $0.
A “Yes” vote means
A yes vote ratifies the district's adopted $1.0446 tax rate ($0.7869 maintenance and operations plus $0.2577 debt service) for the current year.
A “No” vote means
A no vote rejects the adopted $1.0446 tax rate.
The district spans Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes and Wilson counties; owned here as its home county. The board's order finds that ratifying the rate "would increase school funding under current funding formulas."
