The question, as printed on the ballot
Shall the County of Albemarle impose a one-percent (1%) sales and use tax to fund capital projects for the construction or renovation of schools, with revenues to be used solely for those purposes, and the tax to expire on June 30, 2046?
A “Yes” vote means
A yes vote allows the county to impose an additional 1% sales and use tax, used only for school construction or renovation projects and expiring June 30, 2046.
A “No” vote means
A no vote means the county may not impose the additional 1% sales and use tax for school construction or renovation.
The county's referendum page estimates the tax could raise roughly $20 million a year for school capital needs; it is informational and not an official ballot explanation.
