QUESTION: Shall Arlington County contract a debt and issue its general obligation bonds in the maximum principal amount of $34,945,000 to finance, together with other available funds, the cost of various capital projects for local parks & recreation?

A “Yes” vote means

A yes vote authorizes up to $34.9 million in county bonds for parks projects, including Gateway Park, a boathouse, Drew Park, land acquisition and trails.

A “No” vote means

A no vote does not authorize these $34.9 million in local parks and recreation bonds.

Official plain English statement

This proposal will fund a variety of parks and recreation projects. The anticipated costs of the projects that may be financed under this proposal are $10.4million for Gateway Park, $9.5 million for Arlington Boathouse construction, $4.2 million for Drew Park improvements, $3.0 million for parks land acquisition and public space program, $2.7 million for trail and bridge modernization, $1.3 million for natural resiliency and habitat restoration, and $3.8 million for other parks and recreation projects. The County Board may reallocate bond funds among other parks and recreation projects within the County’s Capital Improvement Plan, as amended from time to time, to the extent necessary or desirable.
