QUESTION: Shall Arlington County contract a debt and issue its general obligation bonds in the maximum principal amount of $80,000,000 to finance, together with other available funds, the cost of various capital projects for Arlington Public Schools?

A “Yes” vote means

A yes vote authorizes up to $80 million in county bonds for school projects: Jamestown and Oakridge elementary refreshes and building-systems infrastructure.

A “No” vote means

A no vote does not authorize these $80 million in Arlington Public Schools bonds.

Official plain English statement

This proposal will make funds available for the Arlington Public Schools' capital improvement program. The anticipated costs of the projects that may be financed under this proposal are: • Jamestown Elementary School Refresh ($29,000,000) • Oakridge Elementary School Refresh ($31,000,000) • Major Infrastructure – Building Systems ($20,000,000) The School Board may reallocate bond funds among other school projects within the School Board’s Capital Improvement Plan, as amended from time to time, to the extent necessary or desirable.
