The question, as printed on the ballot
The Clallam County Charter Review Commission adopted Resolution No. 3 concerning amendment of the charter requiring commissioner district town hall meetings. This proposition would amend Article II of the Clallam County Charter to require each individual county commissioner to conduct a minimum of one town hall meeting per year in their commissioner district and require the county commissioners, together, to conduct a minimum of one town hall meeting per year in each of the three commissioner districts. These meetings will be required to occur outside normal business hours. Should this proposition be:
A “Yes” vote means
The charter requires each commissioner to hold at least one after-hours town hall a year in their district, and the board to hold one a year in each of the three districts.
A “No” vote means
The charter does not add a town hall requirement.
Official plain English statement
The Clallam County Charter currently does not require county commissioners to meet with the public in their commissioner districts outside of regular board meetings, which are typically held in Port Angeles during normal working hours. If adopted, this measure would amend Article II of the Clallam County Charter to require each individual county commissioner to hold at least one town hall meeting per year in their commissioner district. It would further require that the county commissioners collectively conduct at least one town hall meeting in each of the three commissioner districts per year. These meetings would be required to occur outside of normal business hours, with notice posted at least 30 days in advance of each meeting.
