Authorization for a single-year permanent levy lid lift. Franklin County Fire Protection District No. 3 adopted Resolution No. 491 to increase the current level of property taxes to adequately fund District operations including emergency medical services. This proposition would authorize the District to use a property tax levy rate of $1.24 per $1,000 assessed valuation for assessment in 2026 and collection in 2027. The dollar amount of the levy collected in 2027 shall be used to calculate the levy limit in subsequent years. Should this proposition be:
A “Yes” vote means
Fire District 3 could set its property tax levy at $1.24 per $1,000 of assessed value for 2027 collection, and use that amount as the base for later years' levy limits.
A “No” vote means
Fire District 3's property tax levy would not be raised to $1.24 per $1,000 of assessed value.
Official plain English statement
If enacted, this proposition authorizes the district to increase the tax levy rate to $1.24 per $1000 of assessed value for assessment in 2026 and collection in 2027. The district would be authorized to use the amount of the levy collected in 2027 as a base for subsequent levy limitations provided in RCW 84.55. This enables the district to continue maintaining and adequately funding district operations, including emergency medical services (ambulance).
