The Pierce County Charter Review Commission proposed an amendment to Section 2.35 of the Pierce County Charter concerning meetings of the County Council. If approved, this amendment will require the County Council to meet at least 45 times each year and require all Council meetings that require public comment to have an option for remote attendance and public comment. Should this proposed Charter amendment be:
A “Yes” vote means
The County Council must meet at least 45 times a year (instead of at least once in each of 50 weeks), and meetings requiring public comment must offer remote attendance and comment.
A “No” vote means
The Charter keeps requiring the County Council to meet at least once in each of 50 weeks a year, and adds no remote attendance and comment requirement.

Section 2.35 of the Pierce County Charter establishes rules of procedure for the Pierce County Council. The County Council is currently required to meet at least once in each of 50 weeks during the calendar year. The proposed Charter amendment will change that requirement to at least 45 times during the calendar year. The proposed Charter amendment will also require all meetings where public comment is required by law or rule to have an option for remote attendance and public comment.
