The Board of Directors of La Conner School District adopted Resolution No. 26-14 concerning facility modernization and technology levies. This proposition authorizes modernization of existing buildings and replacement and upgrades of technology systems; and authorizes the following excess levies for such purposes on taxable property within the District: Collection Year / Approximate Levy Rate per $1,000 Assessed Value / Levy Amount 2027: $0.307, $350,000 2028: $0.308, $365,000 2029: $0.308, $380,000 2030: $0.308, $395,000 all as provided in Resolution #26-14. Should this proposition be approved?
A “Yes” vote means
La Conner School District could collect capital levies totaling $1,490,000 in 2027-2030 (about $0.31 per $1,000) to modernize buildings and upgrade technology.
A “No” vote means
La Conner School District would not collect this $1,490,000 capital levy for building modernization and technology.
Official plain English statement
The Board of Directors of La Conner School District 311 requests approval of a capital levy as described in Proposition No. 1, approved by the Board of Directors in Resolution No. 26-14. The proposition authorizes the collection of a levy of $350,000 in 2027, the collection of a levy of $365,000 in 2028, the collection of a levy of $380,000 in 2029 and the collection of a levy of $395,000 in 2030 to undertake modernization of existing buildings and the replacement and upgrade of technology systems within the District. Such funds may be used only to support the construction, modernization, remodeling to school facilities, technology improvements and training. The total amount to be collected will be $1,490,000, to be collected in each of the four years commencing 2027 through 2030. The estimated levy rates per $1,000 of assessed value will be $0.307 per $1,000 for 2027 collection, $0.308 per $1,000 for 2028 collection, $0.308 per $1,000 for 2029 collection and $0.308 for 2030 collection. The exact levy rate will be adjusted based upon the actual assessed value of the property within the District at the time of the levy. Exemptions from taxes may be available to certain homeowners.
