Official plain English statement

Passage of Proposition 1 would authorize a four-year Capital Projects Levy to provide funding for school safety and security improvements, major maintenance projects, facility improvements, and the relocation of Sky Valley Education Center to the updated Wagner Center site. Information about the proposed projects is available at www.monroe.wednet.edu/CapitalLevy2026. State funding does not fully cover school construction, major repairs, or facility improvements. Capital Projects Levies provide local funding for these purposes. If approved, levy funds would be used to address identified safety, maintenance, and facility needs at schools and district facilities. The levy would authorize collection of up to $12,282,731 annually in each of the years 2027 through 2030. The estimated levy rates per $1,000 of assessed property value are $0.95 in 2027, $0.90 in 2028, $0.86 in 2029, and $0.82 in 2030. Property tax exemptions may be available for qualifying senior citizens and persons with disabilities. For information about exemptions, contact the Snohomish County Assessor at (425) 388-3433.
