Mukilteo School District No. 6 Proposition No. 1 General Obligation Bonds - $400,000,000 The Board of Directors of Mukilteo School District No. 6 adopted Resolution #12/2025-26 concerning a proposition for bonds. This proposition would authorize the District to add to and replace portions of Mukilteo, Serene Lake and Olivia Park Elementaries and Explorer Middle School; expand the Kamiak High School gymnasium; replace and improve track, field and athletic facilities; update technology systems; make safety and security upgrades; and upgrade building components, by issuing $400,000,000 of general obligation bonds maturing within 21 years; and to levy excess property taxes annually to repay the bonds, as described in Resolution #12/2025-26. Should this proposition be approved?
A “Yes” vote means
The district could issue $400,000,000 in bonds over up to 21 years (est. average $0.57 per $1,000) to rebuild four schools and fund other upgrades.
A “No” vote means
The district would not issue these bonds or levy the property taxes to repay them.
Official plain English statement
Passage of Proposition 1 enables Mukilteo School District to finance capital improvements by issuing up to $400,000,000 of general obligation bonds. If voters approve this proposition, the District will use the bond proceeds to construct new buildings at Mukilteo, Serene Lake and Olivia Park Elementary Schools and Explorer Middle School; construct an addition to the Kamiak High School Gymnasium; improve and upgrade athletic facilities, playgrounds and parking; replace and upgrade network cabling and infrastructure; build out a data center for disaster recovery; and make safety, security and building component upgrades districtwide. If voters approve this proposition, the bonds will mature within 21 years, and be repaid from annual excess property tax levies. Based on projected assessed valuation information, the District estimates the excess levy rate to average $0.57 per $1,000 of assessed property value. A property tax exemption may be available to certain senior or disabled homeowners who meet specified income limits.
