Official plain English statement
Proposition 1 allows East Valley School District to replace an existing capital levy expiring at the end of 2026. The replacement levy will be used to make District-wide safety, security, infrastructure, and technology improvements, including, but not limited to: (1) safety, security and communication system improvements; (2) parking and traffic improvements; (3) plumbing, HVAC, roof and electrical system replacements and improvements; and (4) educational technology, cybersecurity and online safety upgrades and improvements. The School Board determined these improvements are required due to safety and security concerns, educationally outdated school facilities, deteriorating infrastructure, and the needs of student instructional programs and the existing condition of educational technology equipment and infrastructure. Further information is available at: www.evsd.org. The proposed two-year replacement levy would authorize collection of taxes to provide $6,793,300 in 2027 and $6,996,996 in 2028. The levy rate required to produce these levy amounts is estimated to be $0.99 per $1,000 of assessed value. Exemptions from taxes may be available to certain homeowners, contact the Spokane County Assessor 509-477-3698.
