Proposition No. 1 Spokane County Fire Protection District No. 3 Emergency Medical Services Property Tax Levy The Board of Fire Commissioners of Spokane County Fire Protection District No. 3 adopted Resolution #26-5 concerning a proposition to fund emergency medical services. Will Spokane County Fire Protection District No. 3 be authorized to fund emergency medical services for its citizens by imposing a regular property tax levy of $.50 or less per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation for a period of six consecutive years to be collected beginning in 2027?

A “Yes” vote means

Fire District 3 levies a property tax of up to $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for six years, collected beginning in 2027, used only for emergency medical services.

A “No” vote means

Fire District 3 does not levy the six-year emergency medical services property tax.

Official plain English statement

Spokane County Fire Protection District No. 3 provides emergency fire protection, rescue, and emergency medical services to its community. The majority of your fire districts 911 responses relate to the community's emergency medical service needs. Emergency medical services require expenditure of revenues for trained and qualified personnel, the acquisition, maintenance and operation of properly equipped apparatus and the maintenance of the District's fire stations. Your elected Board of Commissioners have determined that in order to continue to provide and improve EMS services to our citizens the District requires more stable and consistent funding. If approved by the voters this measure will authorize a six-year emergency medical services (EMS) property tax levy at a rate not to exceed $0.50 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation. Approval of the levy will allow the District to improve the level of emergency medical services provided to the citizens of the District. The District will use the revenue from this levy exclusively for emergency medical services.
