Official plain English statement

Passage of Proposition No. 2 would allow West Valley School District to replace a capital levy that expires at the end of 2027. The replacement levy will be used to pay costs of making District‑wide safety, security and infrastructure improvements, including: (1) modernizing, upgrading, acquiring, installing and implementing entrance security (including cameras, access controls, door locks, communications systems) and other safety and security systems; (2) constructing a library addition at Pasadena Park Elementary School; (3) replacing heating, ventilation, and air climate control systems and equipment (HVAC) at Spokane Valley High School; and (4) making other health, safety, security, infrastructure and capital improvements to school facilities (including sprinkler system installations and facility abatement projects). Further information is available at www.wvsd.org. The proposed two-year replacement levy would authorize the collection of taxes to provide $4,191,809 in 2028 and $4,317,563 in 2029. The levy rate required to produce these amounts is estimated to be $1.00 per $1,000 of assessed value. Exemptions from taxes may be available, contact the Spokane County Assessor 509-477-3698.
