The question, as printed on the ballot

Proposition No. 1 Property Tax Levy For Fire Protection Services The Board of Commissioners of Stevens County Fire Protection District No. 10 adopted Resolution No. 2-2026 concerning a property tax levy for acquisition, maintenance, and operations. This proposition would fund acquisition, maintenance, and operation of fire protection equipment and facilities by establishing the District's existing regular property tax levy in 2026 at $0.75 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for collection in 2027. The 2026 maximum allowable levy shall serve as the base for computing subsequent levy limitations pursuant to chapter 84.55 RCW. Should this Proposition be approved?

A “Yes” vote means

Fire District 10 sets its regular levy at $0.75 per $1,000 of assessed value (from $0.54) for collection in 2027, about $21 a year more per $100,000 of value.

A “No” vote means

Fire District 10's regular levy stays under its current limit (about $0.54 per $1,000 of assessed value).

Official plain English statement

If voters approve Proposition No.1, Stevens County Fire Protection District #10's levy rate would be established at $0.75 per $1000 of assessed value in 2026 for collection in 2027. The additional tax revenue collected by this levy lift will be used to continue operation and maintenance of emergency fire vehicles, fire stations and properly trained personnel equipped with the suitable firefighting equipment. The 2026 levy amount will then be used to calculate subsequent levy limits, as allowed by RCW 84.55. The Districts current levy rate is $ 0.54 per $1000. If this measure is approved, property owners would pay an addition $21.00 per year ($1.75 per month) per $100,000 of assessed value. The Board of Commissioners has determined that the tax levy and the revenue it will produce is necessary to maintain the current level of fire protection, fire suppression and emergency services while providing for the safety of our firefighters.
