The Commissioners of Whitman County Fire District No. 8 adopted Resolution No. 2026-1, concerning a proposition to finance a maintenance and operation levy for the District. This proposition would authorize the District to levy an excess property tax on all taxable property within the District at an estimated rate of $0.36 per $1,000.00 of assessed value in 2026 to raise $75,000 per year for four consecutive years, to be collected in 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030. Should this proposition be approved?
A “Yes” vote means
Fire District 8 levies an excess property tax raising $75,000 a year (an estimated $0.36 per $1,000 of assessed value) for maintenance and operations, collected in 2027 through 2030.
A “No” vote means
Fire District 8 does not levy the $75,000-a-year maintenance and operation excess property tax.
