A “Yes” vote means
Tekoa levies a special property tax of $50,000 (an estimated $1.23 per $1,000 of assessed value), collected in 2027 for oiling gravel streets, chip sealing, asphalt and sidewalk work.
A “No” vote means
Tekoa does not levy the $50,000 street special property tax in 2027.
Official plain English statement
We are asking the voters to approve a street levy for $50,000. The levy will pay for sidewalk replacement or matching money for a sidewalk grant, matching money for a street grant, chip sealing paved roads, or oiling gravel streets. We will be seal coating a majority of the streets this summer with a grant from TIB. We applied for a TIB grant to replace the sidewalk on Main Street for 2027. We have a large number of sidewalks that need replaced that this levy would pay for or provide matching funds.
