What this office does: Magistrates sit on the Nelson County Fiscal Court with the county judge/executive: they approve the county budget, pass ordinances and adopt resolutions on county government. Each is elected by the voters of one magisterial district.

On the ballot in the B101, B102, B103 and B104 precincts (sample ballot). Open seat: Gary Coulter, a former magistrate for the district, defeated Magistrate Adam Wheatley in the May 2026 Republican primary.
