What this office does: A county commissioner is one of the members of the board that adopts the county budget and oversees county government: the jail, sheriff's office, registries and emergency management.

Elected for a two-year term: the commissioner elected in 2024 resigned, and an interim commissioner was appointed to serve until December 31, 2026. Somerset County elects its county offices (except district attorney) without party labels under its charter.
