What this office does: The sheriff runs the county sheriff's office, which patrols the county and operates the county jail.

Open seat: Sheriff David Linder is retiring at the end of 2026. Reagan won the June Republican primary; Linderman and Sampson, who also ran in that primary, petitioned onto independent lines. Deputy Matthew Sage, who lost the primary, said in August he was weighing a write-in campaign.
