What this office does: The court of appeals hears civil and criminal appeals from the district and county courts in its district (except death-penalty cases); justices are elected to six-year terms.

Justices of the 2nd Court of Appeals are elected by voters in Archer, Clay, Cooke, Denton, Hood, Jack, Montague, Parker, Tarrant, Wichita, Wise and Young counties.
