What this office does: The Comptroller is Texas's chief financial officer: the state's tax collector, accountant, revenue estimator and treasurer, whose revenue estimate caps what the Legislature can spend.

Don Huffines was appointed Comptroller by Gov. Greg Abbott and sworn in on Aug. 1, 2026.
