Appointed by Gov. Josh Stein in April 2026 to the District 23 seat (Caswell, Orange and Person counties) after Sen. Graig Meyer resigned. A Chapel Hill litigator, he was first vice chair of the N.C. Democratic Party from 2023 to 2026 and has chaired the Orange County Democratic Party.
