A member of the Syracuse Board of Zoning Appeals, which he has served as president, he represents the town on the county Area Plan Commission and is a seasonal deputy on the Syracuse/Wawasee Lake Patrol. He spent more than 25 years as a volunteer firefighter, EMT and hazmat team member with the Washington Township Fire Department in Indianapolis.
