District attorney for Beaufort, Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell and Washington counties since Gov. Josh Stein appointed him in January 2025 to succeed Seth Edwards, who was elected a superior court judge. He had been the district's chief assistant district attorney and a special assistant U.S. attorney for five years.
