Sponsored the law opting into the federal scholarship tax credit.

First-listed primary sponsor of House Bill 87, the Educational Choice for Children Act, which opts North Carolina into the federal tax credit, created by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, for donations to scholarship granting organizations. The House overrode the governor's veto on May 20, 2026 (73-46), and it became Session Law 2026-6 on June 3, 2026.
