Authored requiring sheriffs to join the federal 287(g) program.

As introduced, each sheriff would need an agreement under Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act for the county jail by January 1, 2026. Lauer is the first-listed author of House Bill 1158 (2025); described here as introduced. The bill was not enacted.
