Ballot issues
Proposal 2026-1: Call a constitutional convention
Shall a convention of elected delegates be convened in 2027 to draft a general revision of the State Constitution for presentation to the state’s voters for their approval or rejection?
Proposal 2026-2: Campaign contributions by utilities and government contractors, and political ad disclosure (initiated law)
The proposal would: • Prohibit regulated electric and gas utilities, contractors with over $250,000 annually in government contracts, and people and organizations with substantial connections to these utilities/contractors from making direct or indirect campaign contributions to those who run for or hold offices that impact them. • Expand laws regulating spending on political communications, including those requiring disclosing donor information, to apply to communications clearly identifying candidates or ballot questions, even if they do not expressly advocate voting for/against them. • Expressly apply the law requiring disclosure of who paid for political communications to internet political communications. Should this proposal be adopted?
Shiawassee County: senior citizen services millage renewal
Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in the County of Shiawassee of 0.5000 mills ($0.50 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 0.4942 mills ($0.4942 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at up to 0.4942 mills ($0.4942 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for five years, 2026 through 2030 inclusive, for the purpose of funding senior citizen services within Shiawassee County? If approved and levied in full, this millage will raise an estimated $1,370,677 in the first calendar year of the levy based on taxable value. A portion of the millage may also be disbursed to the Downtown Development Authorities of the Cities of Corunna, Durand, Laingsburg, and Owosso, the Downtown Development Authorities of the Villages of Bancroft, Byron, Lennon, Morrice, New Lothrop and Vernon, the Downtown Development Authority of the Township of Perry, the Brownfield Authorities of Shiawassee County, Owosso Township, the City of Owosso, and the City of Durand as well as such other or fewer local units of government as required by law.
City of Corunna: charter amendment to Section 4.2 (at-large council elections)
An Amendment To The City Of Corunna Charter Such That The City Of Corunna Shall Be Elected At-Large Rather Than By Separate Wards As Terms Expire. Shall the Corunna City Charter Section 4.2 be amended to eliminate the election of one (1) Councilman from each ward for a term of four (4) years at each regular city election in favor of electing three (3) Councilpersons four (4) years at each regular city election without ward residency requirements?
City of Corunna: charter amendment to Section 5.2(d) (council quorum)
An Amendment To The City Of Corunna Charter Such That The City Of Corunna Council Shall Have A Quorum Based On The Majority Of Seats Filled Rather Than Four (4) Members Of Council. Shall the Corunna City Charter Section 5.2(d) be amended to eliminate its requirement of four (4) council members to be considered a quorum in favor of a majority of the total number of councilmembers then holding office to be considered a quorum?
City of Corunna: gender-neutral charter language
The City of Corunna Charter would be amended to change all gender specific terminology to gender neutral terms, making it clear that the Charter applies equally to all persons regardless of gender. Shall the City of Corunna Charter be amended to make it gender neutral (affecting chapters III through IX)?
