What this office does: The city council is the City of Georgetown's legislative body: it passes ordinances and adopts the city budget. Its eight members are elected citywide to two-year terms.
Nonpartisan. Fifteen names are printed for up to eight seats. David J. Lusby withdrew after the state's Aug. 24 certification date, so his name stays on the ballot; signs at polling places will say he has withdrawn (Georgetown News-Graphic; the Secretary of State's list of filings with the county clerk also shows his filing as withdrawn). Mark Showalter withdrew earlier and is not on the ballot.
