Proposal 2026-1: Call a constitutional convention
Shall a convention of elected delegates be convened in 2027 to draft a general revision of the State Constitution for presentation to the state’s voters for their approval or rejection?
Proposal 2026-2: Campaign contributions by utilities and government contractors, and political ad disclosure (initiated law)
The proposal would: • Prohibit regulated electric and gas utilities, contractors with over $250,000 annually in government contracts, and people and organizations with substantial connections to these utilities/contractors from making direct or indirect campaign contributions to those who run for or hold offices that impact them. • Expand laws regulating spending on political communications, including those requiring disclosing donor information, to apply to communications clearly identifying candidates or ballot questions, even if they do not expressly advocate voting for/against them. • Expressly apply the law requiring disclosure of who paid for political communications to internet political communications. Should this proposal be adopted?
Royalton Township: library services millage (new)
Shall the tax limitation on all taxable property within Royalton Township, Berrien County, Michigan, be increased and the Township be authorized to levy annually a new millage in the amount of 0.4 mills ($0.40 per $1,000 of taxable value), for four years, 2027 to 2030 inclusive, to provide funds for Township library services? The estimated revenue the Township will collect in the first year of levy (2027) if the millage is approved is approximately $155,018. To the extent required by law, a portion of the revenues collected from this millage (estimated to be approximately 1.2% in the first year), will be captured by or disbursed to the Berrien County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.
Royalton Township: ambulance services special assessment
Should Royalton Township, Berrien County, Michigan, pursuant to Section 20948 of the Public Health Code, Act 368 of the Michigan Public Acts, 1978, as amended, and Public Act 33 of the Michigan Public Acts, 1951, as amended, MCL 41.801 et. seq., raise money to equip, maintain and operate or to contract for, ambulance services by annual special assessments levies of up to 0.75 mill ($0.75 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) on all real property in the Township that is not exempt from property taxes, for a period of ten (10)years, with the levies to be from 2027 to 2036, to provide funding for the 2027 to 2036 calendar years? If approved and fully levied in December 2027, the estimated revenue from this special assessment collected in the first year would be $290,658.00.
Royalton Township: fire department special assessment
Should Royalton Township, Berrien County, Michigan, pursuant to Public Act 33 of the Michigan Public Acts, 1951, as amended, MCL 41.801 et. seq., raise money to equip, maintain, and operate the Township Fire Department by annual special assessments levies of up to 1.25 mills ($1.25 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) on all real property in the Township that is not exempt from property taxes, for a period of ten (10) years, with the levies to be from 2027 to 2036, to provide funding for the 2027 to 2036 calendar years,? If approved and fully levied in December 2027, the estimated revenue from this special assessment collected in the first year would be $484,430.00.
