Initiative Measure No. IP26-645: repeal the 9.9% tax on income over $1 million; prohibit income taxes
Initiative Measure No. IP26-645 concerns state and local taxes. This measure would repeal a 9.9% tax on annual individual income over $1,000,000; prohibit taxes measured by individual income and taxes on individual income or the receipt of individual income; and define "income." This measure would decrease funding for public K-12 education, higher education (including universities and community colleges), and human services (primarily healthcare). Should this measure be enacted into law?
Initiative Measure No. IL26-001: parents' rights in public schools (restore Initiative 2081 as enacted)
Initiative Measure No. IL26-001 concerns parental rights relating to their children in public school. This measure would repeal amendments to a statute listing certain rights of parents and guardians of public-school children and re-enact the law as it was originally enacted by Initiative to the Legislature 2081. Should this measure be enacted into law?
Initiative Measure No. IL26-638: K-12 girls' sports eligibility and biological sex verification
Initiative Measure No. IL26-638 concerns participation in athletics at K-12 schools. This measure would prohibit students it defines as "biologically male" from competing in certain school athletic activities intended for female students only. It would require verification of biological sex by students' healthcare providers. Should this measure be enacted into law?
City of Seattle Proposition 1: transit sales tax (0.15% → up to 0.3%)
The City of Seattle adopted Ordinance No. 127474 concerning funding for transit service and related transportation needs in Seattle. The City of Seattle's Proposition 1 would dedicate funding to transit services benefiting Seattle residents, including more frequent service; affordable fare programs for qualifying individuals; reliability, access, and climate projects; enhanced service on RapidRide and routes serving regional centers and high equity priority areas; facilitation of Sound Transit expansion; and others as provided in Ordinance 127474. It authorizes a 0.3% sales and use tax for up to ten years to replace the current voter-approved 0.15% sales tax expiring March 31, 2027. Should this Proposition be approved?
Highline School District Proposition 1: $595.4 million school construction bonds
The Board of Directors of Highline School District No. 401 adopted Resolution No. 11-26, concerning neighborhood school improvements and safety upgrades. This proposition would authorize the District to: replace or rebuild four deteriorating schools (Cascade, Chinook, Sylvester, CHOICE Academy), including new career/technical learning spaces, secure entrances, security camera upgrades; make critical districtwide core building system upgrades, including heating, roofing, electrical, plumbing; implement districtwide health, security, fire system and earthquake safety upgrades; issue $595,400,000 of general obligation bonds maturing within 21 years; and levy annual excess property taxes to repay the bonds, all as provided in Resolution No. 11-26. Highline School District Proposition 2: technology and capital levy ($12 million a year, 2027–2030)
The Board of Directors of Highline School District No. 401 adopted Resolution No. 12-26, concerning educational technology and capital improvements to maintain student learning. This proposition would fund districtwide technology, programs and staff and other capital improvements not funded by the State, including cybersecurity protections, reliable internet, technology operations and infrastructure, and student/staff technology access, and authorize the District to levy the following excess taxes on all taxable property within the District: Collection Year Estimated Levy Rate/$1,000 Assessed Value Levy Amount 2027 $0.36 $12,000,000 2028 $0.35 $12,000,000 2029 $0.34 $12,000,000 2030 $0.32 $12,000,000 all as provided in Resolution No. 12-26. King County Fire District 20 Proposition 1: $16 million facilities and apparatus bonds
The Board of Fire Commissioners of King County Fire Protection District No. 20 adopted Resolution No. 2026-002, concerning emergency response facilities to protect public health, life and property. This proposition would authorize the District to: improve emergency response support facilities and infrastructure on two sites owned by the District; renovate and modernize the existing fire station; acquire firefighting and emergency response apparatus; issue no more than $16,000,000 of general obligation bonds maturing within 20 years; and levy annual excess property taxes to repay the bonds, all as provided in Resolution No. 2026-002. King County Cemetery District 1 Proposition 1: Vashon cemetery levy increase
To support operational expenses, modernize and maintain burial records, acquire essential equipment, advance the development of green burial practices, and facilitate the acquisition of additional property, the Board of King County Cemetery District No. 1 adopted Resolution No. 295 proposing a permanent increase in its regular property tax levy from approximately $.03 ($.02816) to $.05 per $1000 of assessed valuation beginning in 2027.
