Initiative Measure No. IP26-645: repeal the 9.9% tax on income over $1 million; prohibit income taxes
Initiative Measure No. IP26-645 concerns state and local taxes. This measure would repeal a 9.9% tax on annual individual income over $1,000,000; prohibit taxes measured by individual income and taxes on individual income or the receipt of individual income; and define "income." This measure would decrease funding for public K-12 education, higher education (including universities and community colleges), and human services (primarily healthcare). Initiative Measure No. IL26-001 concerns parental rights relating to their children in public school. This measure would repeal amendments to a statute listing certain rights of parents and guardians of public-school children and re-enact the law as it was originally enacted by Initiative to the Legislature 2081. Initiative Measure No. IL26-638: K-12 girls' sports eligibility and biological sex verification
Initiative Measure No. IL26-638 concerns participation in athletics at K-12 schools. This measure would prohibit students it defines as "biologically male" from competing in certain school athletic activities intended for female students only. Whitman County Rural Library District Proposition 1: restore levy rate to $0.45 per $1,000
The Board of Trustees of the Whitman County Rural Library District adopted a Resolution concerning the Rural Library District's regular property tax levy rate. If approved, this Proposition would restore the Rural Library District's regular property tax levy rate to $0.45 per $1,000 of assessed value in 2026, for collection in 2027 and maintain that rate authorization for each of the nine succeeding years. (the actual levy rate may be reduced below the authorized maximum in any year based on annual budget requirements) and use the 2036 levy amount to calculate subsequent levy limits under chapter 84.55 RCW. City of Palouse Proposition 1: infrastructure operation and maintenance levy ($55,000, one year)
For the purpose of funding the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure, the City Council of the City of Palouse proposes, pursuant to RCW 84.52.052, to impose an excess property tax levy upon all taxable property within the City in the amount of $55,000.00, an estimated $0.73058 per $1,000.00 of assessed value in the year 2026 for collection in 2027, as provided in Resolution 2026-08. Whitman County Fire Protection District No. 14 (Colton) Proposition 1: levy lid lift to $1.08 per $1,000
The Board of Whitman County Fire Protection District No. 14 adopted Resolution No. 26-03 concerning a proposition to establish its regular property tax levy. This proposition authorizes the District to establish its regular property tax levy at $1.08 per $1,000 of assessed value to be assessed in 2026 and collected in 2027. The funds will maintain and improve fire protection, and life safety services, replace apparatus and equipment, and provide for firefighter safety.
